Despite often coming under fire for allegedly negating the Genocide, the first place that hard-talking politician Ms. Victoire Ingabire Umuhoza went after arrival was the Genocide memorial at Gisozi where some 250,000 people are laid to rest, RNA reports.

Her return to Rwanda started as an announcement in 2008. Ms. Ingabire has finally arrived in the country to prepare for the August 09 presidential polls. Embattled leaders of PS Imberakuri and the Green Party of Rwanda were on hand to welcome her.

Ms. Ingabire touched down aboard Kenya Airways at about 14:56 from Amsterdam via Nairobi. There are many journalists and about 50 people waiting anxiously to receive the lady politician, according to our reporter at the airport.

Controversial Mr. Bernard Ntaganda of PS Imberakuri party and Mr. Frank Habineza are also at the airport, our correspondent says. The mood was relaxed but tense as people waited.

Details later.
