Rwanda’s Green Party officials have angrily reacted to an intelligence report about their party, published here a few days ago. Party officials called 256news desk last evening.
256news published the report which shows that some of the ruling RPF party members are subscribers to the new party.
Frank Habineza the interim president of the party refuted the report denying all the contents.
“All these allegations that were raised in the report are aimed at undermining the green party’s registration process,” Habineza said over the phone.
Green Party Secretary General, Charles Kabanda, also reacted by saying that, “it is our primary objective to recruit every adult Rwandan of sound mind into our party, but at the moment none of the people mentioned in the report is our members”.
Green Party officials made it clear that none of the mentioned people are green party members or is funding the party.
Habineza clarified that, the Green party is based on non violence principals like all other green parties of the world.
“We attain power through peaceful means such as general elections but not by force,” he added.
He said the report is aimed at giving an excuse and pretext to government to start harassing the mentioned politicians and Green Party leaders and members so as to tarnish the credibility of the party.
But other reports say that this security report might have leaked intentionally so that security organs base on it in order to deny Green Party’s registration process.
The report mentions senior members of the RPF and the Rwanda Defence Forces.
