RELEASE Nº 013/R/PK 210 February 9, 2010

The Organization for Peace, Justice and Development in Rwanda (OPJDR) has been informed of rumors that Mrs. Victoire Ingabire Umuhoza, President of the opposition political party United Democratic Forces (UDF-Inkingi) and candidate to the presidential elections in Rwanda, scheduled August 9, 2010, was the victim of a traffic accident and she would even be dead.

The OPJDR would like to warn Rwandan people and the entire international community that it is the maneuvering strategy of President Kagame to feel the reactions of each other and then turn to act. The lynching of Ms. Ingabire and his colleague Joseph Ntawangundi on February 3, 2010, followed by the arrest of the latter, fall into this strategy.

The OPJDR asks the General Paul Kagame as President of the Republic and thus guarantor of all the country's institutions, to ensure the safety of Mrs. Ingabire Victoire Umuhoza and that he will be liable for any incident or injury of any nature whatsoever which would happen to Madam Victoire Ingabire Umuhoza and all her collaborators.

COMMUNIQUE DE PRESSE Nº 013/R/PK 210 Février 9, 2010
