Kigali, Rwanda-Mr. John Gara, is the new Chief Executive Officer of Rwanda Development Board (RDB).
He promises to focus his energy on fast tracking development and working with stakeholders to bring value to the Rwanda's development agenda.
The investment lawyer is the second chief executive officer to head RDB, after Mr. Joe Ritch left recently. RDB was created to fast track investments and lobby for the private sector.
“A lot of his work has been in the investment area, supporting business, promoting investment and he has done this work in numerous countries over the years,” a statement issued by Ms. Linda Mutesi, RDB public relations officer says.
Addressing the press, Gara said he was pleased to take over RDB at time when it was doing well
“I thank Joe Ritch for the good work he did for RDB,” Gara said. “What we want to do in RDB is partly to look at those issues but also to look at the niche areas that Rwanda can promote such that if we can capitalise on and support those, Rwanda will have a private sector which will be growing.” Gara's appointment is still pending the Senate’s approval.
