Ann Garrison just did a story - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMwBMk3SINE - on events now unfolding in Rwanda that have been poorly covered by the media. As you may know, General Kagame, the President (quasi-military dictator) of Rwanda, who was "elected" in what was widely criticized as a rigged election, stands for reelection in August of this year. One very brave woman, Victoire Ingabire, returned last month from 14 years of exile in the Netherlands to oppose his candidacy with her own. Since that time she has been arrested, detained, accused of invented crimes, assaulted, robbed of her passport and papers and generally harassed at every turn in an effort by Kagame to ensure that he has no opposition. Please tell this story on NPR so the world knows what is happening and Kagame is made to stop this harassment. Rwandans have been to hell and back and deserve a free and fair election in August.Related Materials:
