Kigali-The National Electoral Commission (NEC) has released an updated calendar of the upcoming presidential elections detailing dates for the series of events that will lead to the August 9 Presidential Polls.
According to the calendar, a copy of which The New Times has obtained, under the section of amendment and enactment of electoral law, the electoral code that is currently in parliament is expected to be promulgated sometime this month and published in the official Gazette.
The nomination of presidential candidates takes place between June 24 and July 02, while the declaration of the final list of candidates approved by NEC will take place on July 07.
Nominated candidates will start campaigning on July 20 and stop on August 08 while presidential polls will kick off the following day on August 9.
The final declaration of presidential election results and announcing the winner will be done not later than August 17, according to the calendar.
